Dear Rev. David Dongjin Cho and the Participants at the AMA Moscow 2003,

May the grace and blessing of God be upon the Rev. David Dongjin Cho and the participants at the AMA Moscow 2003! Personally I remember the opening general assembly of the AMA 1975 as meaningful and significant. The dates when the ¡®Seoul Declaration¡¯ was being formed together with Dr. Beyerhaus and Dr. Norten are remembered very significant. It was when the latent mission forces of the third world were wriggling along. The Rev. David Dongjin Cho and the AMA definitely played the role of the pioneer for the mission in Korea as well as in Asia.
In fact it became the significant occasion by which I contributed to form the ¡®Evangelical Fellowship of Asia¡¯ in 1984, to form the ¡®Korea Partnership Mission Fellowship¡¯ in January of 1988, and to play an important role to prepare the ¡®Korean World Mission Convention¡¯ in July of 1988. I also served to form the ¡®Korean World Mission Association¡¯ in June of 1990 and have participated in world mission through such organizations as ¡®Mission to CIS¡¯ ¡®Korean World Mission Association¡¯ and ¡®Evangelical Fellowship of Asia.¡¯ I have to admit with gratitude that all of these works were possible because of the vision and challenge given me by David Dongjin Cho and the AMA.
The biggest problem, which the modern world faces, is the discord, enmity and confrontation caused by the interests of nationalism as well as racism. The way to overcome and solve these discord and confrontation is not the way to conquer by the ¡®Crusade¡¯ but the way of tolerance, reconciliation and love based on the self-sacrifice of the Cross. And the individual who manifested the best model of it was, I believe, the saint Francis of Assisi. He declared that he married a woman named poverty, gave up all the honors and riches and became friends to the poor and the sick. He loved all the objects including fierce wolf, cruel lepers, aggressive Moslems, resistant heresies, and even suffering and death.
I pray that God would graciously provide the AMA 2003 with new vision and challenge of love for mission. The Korean society now seems to be surrounded by the anger, strife, and division. Even at the National Liberation Day when the tears of thanksgiving and deep gratitude are to be shed by all, the shouts of anger, strife, and division were loudly heard between the east and west as well as between the north and south. I pray that the gospel mission of reconciliation, forgiveness, love and salvation through the cross would come to arise from some ones and from some where. Again I pray that the grace and blessing of God be abundantly poured upon the Rev. David Dongjin Cho and all the participants at the AMA Moscow 2003.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Dr. John Orme
Executive Director,
Interdenominational Foreign Mission Association (IFMA)

It is a distinct honor to be invited to attend the 8th Triennial AMA Convention in Moscow, Russia. It is a glorious reminder that the Gospel for all nations now goes from all nations to all nations. The East partners with the West. We are all one body and we all share the responsibility to go to all nations.

In the IFMA Annual Meetings in these days, we will be encouraged by your faithfulness. The IFMA (The Interdenominational Foreign Mission Association of North America, Inc.), founded in 1917, has roots in the vision of Hudson Taylor and in Asia, as well. Many of the IFMA agencies since the days of 1917 (China Inland Mission/ Overseas Missionary Fellowship, The Evangelical Alliance Mission/TEAM, SEND, among others) now see the fruit of harvest workers, now many in glory, in that the torch is now initiated, funded, and administrated by the Asian hands they so loved and served.

So, it is a distinct honor and humble privilege to congratulate you, our Asian brothers and sisters upon the landmark of testifying to God's grace. May this occasion encourage and enlarge your vision to continue in God's grace, be faithful to the purity of the Gospel, and to watch your life and doctrine in all things ( I Timothy 4:16 ).

Dr. Paul E McKaughan
President and CEO,
Evangelical Fellowship of Mission Agencies (EFMA)

Congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the Seoul ?3 All Asia Mission Consultation. I pray that God will continue to use you in His mission to our world. Further we in EFMA trust that your celebration of 30 years of service which will be held this fall in Russia will be richly blessed by God and that from the event will flow blessing to the whole global missional community of followers of our Lord.

Dr. William D. Tayor
Executive Director,
WEA Missions Commission

Receive this personal word of greetings from the Missions Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance, particularly as you face the 8th Triennial AMA Convention from September 9-12, 2003, in Moscow, Russia where the two continents of Asia and Europe meet. This is an historic moment and we pray that each will be allowed to listen to the voice of the Triune calling and sending God as you discern how to serve in humility and grace.

On behalf of the WEA Missions Commission we pray God? blessing and empowering presence upon all who attend, and in particular the outcomes of this convention.

The blessing of the Sacred Three upon you.

Dr. Thomas Wang
President,
Great Commission Center International

We praise God for the worthy ministry of Asia Missions Association in the past decades. God has used AMA to stir up missionary vision and action among countless churches in the Asian countries. Looking into the future, we believe that God will use AMA in a more wonderful way to encourage Asian churches to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to every corner of the earth. May God bless the 8th Triennial Convention, September 9-12, 2003, Moscow, Russia."

Dr. Luis K. Bush
World Inquiry Director

You are gathering at this strategic convention which marks a critical event in the life of Asian missions. Your meeting for the first time beyond the geographic borders of Asia signals a new step for Asian and perhaps global missions. From the vantage point of Moscow, as representatives of Asian missions, you are looking out at the world in a different way. Like Zinzendorf and William Carey in their time perhaps this 8th Triennial convention of Asia Missions Association will trigger a fresh mission initiative for the Twenty-First Century.

I pray for you that God will do immeasurably more than all you ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within you that to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen (Eph 3:20).

Dr. Sung-sam Samuel Kang
Chief Executive Director,
Korean World Missions Association

Kindly receive my personal greetings from the Korea World Missions Association, as you gather together for the 8th Triennial AMA Convention during the days of Kairos from September 9th to 12th, 2003, in Moscow, Russia.

When I say "Kairos" on this particular occasion of the 8th AMA Convention in Moscow there are two reasons: First, the time is not just historic but God's time because these days the LORD graciously gave opportunities many Asian missionaries to minister Russian people and central Asians as well, who had been suffering from the oppression of communism. The second reason is the venue of this event holding in Moscow. It must be meaningful for all of us especially for Asian Christians because it is located in the two continents of Asia and Europe meet. Especially many people groups in Central Asia which was under Russia for many decades are receiving the gospel of Jesus Christ from many Asian missionaries. We thank God for this.

I pray that the LORD richly bless all the participants and speakers of the 8th AMA Convention on this meaningful time of kairos. I pray also that he LORD may open doors and eyes for more Kingdom workers and His lost peoples in Russia and in central Asia through this blessed event.

Dr. Jonathan Bonk
Executive Director of
Overseas Ministries Study Center (OMSC)

Warm greetings from the Overseas Ministries Study Center, and most hearty congratulations to you, the organizers, and the delegates to the Eighth Triennial Convention of the Asia Missions Association, as you celebrate the 30th anniversary of the historic meeting of non-Western and Western mission leaders.

May I remind you, for your encouragement, that the first meeting of such mission leaders took place nearly 2000 years ago in Jerusalem. The familiar story is told by Dr. Luke in the first eight chapters of the Book of Acts. The result, as we all know, was an unprecedented and spontaneous mission thrust, planned and orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. The great persecution that scattered the believers was, unbeknownst to it perpetrators, sanctified for the Master? use, and resulted in the gospel being spread throughout the then-known world.

I hope that this historic AMA Convention will prove to be similarly Spirit-energized, without the persecution!
May God bless and encourage you all.
